The 1965 Hillman Super Imp, a rare gem and the only surviving Imp in India, is a nimble two-door classic powered by a rear-mounted 875cc overhead cam engine with a 4-speed gearbox and rear-wheel drive. Renowned for its BTCC-inspired handling, it shares underpinnings with the Humbers and Sunbeams of its era. Purchased by my father-in-law in Liverpool in 1965—the same year as my wife’s birth—it has embarked on Euro trips and adventures in the Lake District and Scotland. Imported to Kolkata in 1969, this cherished family heirloom has been a beloved part of our lives for over 50 years.

A bit of history......

I own a 1965 Hillman Super Imp . This is the only surviving Hillman Imp in India making the car quite unique . It's a nimble little car which handles like a dream , owing its driving characteristics to it's BTCC heritage. The imp is powered by a rear mounted 875cc overhead cam engine mated to a 4 speed gearbox. It has a rear wheel drive layout with a two door boxy frame. It shares it's underpinnings with the Humbers & Sunbeams of the day

Moving on from the technical stuff
This car was originally purchased by my father in law in Liverpool back in 1965 and it shares it's birth year with my wife . Since 1965 it has done a few Euro trips along with a few trips to Lake District/Scotland . It was then imported to Kolkata in 1969 and has been with our family ever since . It's our most valuable steed & has been an integral part of our family for over half a century.
