1959 Fiat 1100 Select
Like everyone else I also had made a new year resolution, not to buy anymore classic cars. Well the universe had other plans for me, on 3rd January 2025 I got a call from a broker asking me to check some photos of a Italian Fiat he had sent me. It was a white Fiat Select, looking in quite a good condition from outside and as per him only battery tray had rust and no where else.
Sitting in Goa, the Sunny state decided to take a risk and advanced him for the car unseen as it seemed too good of a deal to pass. As my luck goes one of the Classic car experts from India especially on Indian cars Karl Bhote was in sunny state at that time and I was to meet him the next day and on showing him the pictures he gave me his go ahead to get it. Indrojit Sircar Or Sparky also was kind enough to send his mechanic to inspect the car and from a go ahead from him picked the car up.
My friend Deepanjan Sarkar was also kind enough to go collect the documents from the broker and send me proper photos of the car which I was eager to see.
Documents collected car headed to Sparkys workshop where it would get worked on and made running again.
All 5 tyres are white walls, would be retaining them for shows.
All the lights work that's one thing off the checklist.
Engine started and a big relief.
A good wash before work starts.
Engine and gearbox being taken out.
Body work starts.
