This Wolseley 14/60 was bought by my great grandfather in England and then shipped to Varanasi (India) in 1947. It served him faithfully for years to come and has been in the family since then. My father has seen this car during its glorious days and also enjoyed traveling in it standing on the front seat with his head out of the sunroof.
In 1991, when our ancestral property in Varanasi was being sold, this car was also destined to be sold. However, there were no buyers giving the true value for it. The Wolseley had been grounded for approximately two decades and wasn't in working condition. When this happened, I was asked whether I would like to have the car and preserve it. I more than happily accepted the proposal. Subsequently, it was brought to Calcutta in a truck and as luck would have it, it arrived on my…

Like everyone else I also had made a new year resolution, not to buy anymore classic cars. Well the universe had other plans for me, on 3rd January 2025 I got a call from a broker asking me to check some photos of a Italian Fiat he had sent me. It was a white Fiat Select, looking in quite a good condition from outside and as per him only battery tray had rust and no where else.

Sitting in Goa, the Sunny state decided to take a risk and advanced him for the car unseen as it seemed too good of a deal to pass. As my luck goes one of the Classic car experts from India especially on Indian cars Karl Bhote was in sunny state at that time and I was to meet him the next day and on showing him the pictures he gave me his go…

From the W116 and W126 models, Mercedes Benz began incorporating sophisticated electronic systems to control various parts of their vehicles. If you own a W124, you're probably familiar with the advanced electronics it boasts. In fact, the W124 took these innovations further, introducing even more sophisticated and widespread use of electronics across different systems. This model marked a pivotal transition for Mercedes, paving the way for the high-tech, electronically controlled vehicles we see today.
However, the W124 is also known for something a bit more infamous: its biodegradable soy-based wiring harness, which, unfortunately, became a treat for rodents! 😋 Jokes aside, the W124 is packed with advanced systems like the Comfort Control Unit (CCU), which manages electronic windows, cabin lights, central locking, the sunroof (if equipped), and other optional features. The CCU is tucked under the rear seat, in the left-hand corner. To access it, you'll need to remove the…

Hello everyone. This is the story so far with my first pre-war car.
How did I come across it?
A friend from Bangalore shared the info early in September 2023, saying that there was this Austin 7 for sale. There were a few basic photos which showed a bit of the car and a phone number accompanied the photos.
Long story short, it turned out that this Austin was a 10 minute drive from my home and I went and checked it out. I had desired an earlier, short chassis, small door Austin for a while, and as it turned out, it was one such example. Not the earlier Chummy, which would also have been nice, but a slightly later tourer.
After brief negotiations, and taking advantage of the fact that it was my birthday, I clinched the deal on 10th September, 2023. A couple of days later, the Austin,…

Hi Guys,
I have a friend who's got an Ambassador mark 2 in Rajasthan, his question is the car is heating up from time to time. He's fitted a plastic fan in it and his mechanic has adviced him to fit the original metal fan. What is your take on the subject?

I disagree with the mechanic. A metal fan is heavier and will put more load on the water pump. The plastic fan will probably have more blades and be lighter. I would go for the plastic fan. I'm restricting my comments to the fan only as that was the question.
